“Clients who have joined the old computer workstation service will be migrated to our new service in stages, but ESTDEV is the first institution we consolidated directly to the new service. We are pleased to say that everything went smoothly," says Katrin Lipp, head of the consolidation team. She explains that the new computer workstation service features better usability and collaborative capabilities.
"What sets ESTDEV apart from other clients is that their employees travel a lot, and not only to countries that have good relations with Estonia," says Lipp. "Our task is to ensure secure access from an information security standpoint, and we cannot allow their work to be interrupted," adds the consolidation team leader.
Andrea Kivi, ESTDEV's development manager, says they have been looking forward to joining the Estonian IT Centre's computer workstation service for a long time. "In our work, it is important to use applications that enable hybrid work and co-creation with other international organisations. Estonian IT Centre offers us a flexible service that takes into account the specifics and needs of our institution without compromising information security," says Kivi.
A computer workstation includes a workstation on the office desk alongside modern and smart devices, integrates various technological rooms synchronously, and all are centrally managed. This keeps IT services within institutions at uniform standards and is cost-effective. The new computer workstation service uses more cloud services and offers better usability. All clients on the old computer workstation service will be transitioned to the new one in stages.
